I made some Cream Soda.
I brewed it with yeast, sugar, and artificial vanilla extract. The yeast taste is quite prominent, perhaps more so than the vanilla taste. There is also a nice lemon like taste. The aroma is much more noticeable compared to store bought sodas, probably because of the yeast. The carbonation is very good.
That's amazing. Can you show me how to make this? I love cream soda, and I've often wondered how/whether one can make cream soda oneself. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't really taste much like cream soda; it tastes more like ginger ale. However, you can make a cream soda syrup (sugar, vanilla extract), and mix it with carbonated water to make cream soda as well. This tastes much closer to the stuff you buy.
ReplyDeleteBut maybe I skimped on the vanilla flavor or brewed it too much. The recipe is on this site:

I've also come across recipes for Italian cream soda with actual cream.
I was wondering if cream was ever used in cream soda. Nice work. I like using Lime Cordial to make a sort of Italian soda type drink.
ReplyDeleteYou can probably tell: if it looks clear then there probably isn't any cream in it. I read that they call it cream soda because it was often served with ice cream in it. It's flavour is just vanilla, making it probably the easiest pop/soda to make.
